Formed in 1996, the Coalition Against Poverty
exists to enable people who experience poverty in the UK to
play an active part in developing national policies for the
eradication of poverty. We were re-formed in May 2003 after
successfully receiving a 3 year grant from the Community Fund
with support from many anti-poverty organisations across the
UK.
Our aim is to achieve this by developing opportunities for
communication and joint activities between local, regional
and national anti-poverty groups and by working with Government
to open their policy making processes to greater participation.
UKCAP believes poverty in the 21st century is unacceptable
and we are committed to ensure that people experiencing poverty
are involved at all levels in the decision making process.
