UKCAP Staff

Eileen Devaney National Co-ordinator

Eileen is responsible for implementing the UKCAP work plan and maintaining the strategic direction and development of the Coalition. Eileen takes responsibility for future fundraising, marketing and the promotional / campaigning work of the project, as well as overseeing day-to-day financial and management systems. Eileen also takes responsibility for servicing and communication of Trustees meetings and sub-groups and for general liaison.

 

Julie Gibson Development Worker

Julie works with local, regional and national groups and networks to promote and supportinvolvement in UK wide policy making processes. This work includes finding out what extra support these groups need,and working to meet the needs identified including: direct provision of training; buying in tailored training courses;paying travel and childcare etc, expenses to enable individuals to take up training or policy making contributions; providing personal support to individuals, organisations and networks. Julie also supports the work of the Social Policy Task Force.

 

Paul Sumpter Participation Worker

Paul helps develop ‘how to’ events and projects to support people experiencing poverty. These ‘mini’ poverty hearings, often held in conjunction with the JRF strategy group, aim to create a sophisticated space for those with direct experience of poverty to engage with policy development.

Paul has also helped to devise and deliver media training for members and grassroots organisations, as well as support people with direct experience of poverty to attend (and where appropriate speak) at events.

 

Rita McAlley Administrations Officer

Rita supports two way dialogue and communication between UKCAP and its member organisations. Rita is also responsible for developing and maintaining the office as well as ensuring there is an effective flow of information within the network.
